49-2: The Black Phase, Part 2

Whew. Busy week, and I'm still on schedule. Which is better than last week, which had nothing going on, and I was SUPER-late.

It helps that this week's stuff is actually kinda easy, beyond the introductory comic. I've been considering using a similar format to this in another series (which I've not even started drawing yet, and won't even set up until I'm ready - but if I could get the money, I'd totally swipe a specific URL for).

Anyway, Gary's shirt is not just to make him look emo - it's his Saturn/Lead shirt that we've seen before. It's supposed to be black, but I'm terrible with black in anything other than lines. Assume Panel 1 is the same color.

I'm actually uncertain about Panel 1 though (I initially wrote black on white background, then inverted). Should I do it as the color of the current phase, or the current process (which will correspond to Gary's shirt in each comic)? I'm curious to see what you folks think.

Alternatively, I can leave it white on black.

(I should've also shown off the planetary symbol for each process in each comic in which it shows.)

Friday is Dissolution. I wonder if Gary will even have success in the laboratory, or if it'll just revert to crudely drawn artist depictions of what it should look like. I am curious whether the narration is supposed to be by the Imp, or the book Gary's reading. Or if they are all the voice of the All-Mind, speaking to Gary who is in some kind of strange limbo from which he will never escape.

Nah, it's probably just the book, and I didn't feel like picking a new font.

(In retrospect, Courier would have been fine.)
