[467] Interrogation: Last Hope

A punchline to a joke or a serious moment? You tell me.

Yesterday I got a PQ about someone who took offense to my little joke yesterday about going through time to steal comics. It went something along the lines of this

I mean really these people put in hard work and you just want to take it al away from them? We comicers put hours upon hours of work into what you see on the web and you think its okay the just waltz in swoop it up and say its yours? Yu make me sick!

You don't know how hard it was for me not to correct every mistake in that. And if you're wondering, I checked their comic and it's a two minute Sonic/Megaman/Mario 8-bit sprite comic that just takes jokes from other people. If they are reading, I would like to remind them that I talked about stealing comics with actual artists.

Not to say sprite artists don't have talent. Hell, I reckon Kevin could be a letterer for a comic if he wanted to. And don't forget the people who can do good jokes and such. But if you just want to be the next Bob and George without putting much effort into it, I don't want to hear from you.

Anyway, back to the issue. I thought I made it clear I would never steal someone's work from them. And yeah, sometimes I take a puncline and I do sprite comics, but I tell people they aren't my original ideas. Anyway, it's like when you say you want to kill someone who pissed you off. You'd never actually end their life, even if you do think about it.

What I was talking about was going back and getting the advantage everyone else has. You see, I've noticed that all the comics that are years old know each other. Dave Stanworth, Ian McConville and Matt Boyd, Piro, Hawk, Tim Buckley, Gabe and Tycho, Scott Ramsoomair, etc. meet up at conventions, talk to each other and such. Then, when they're good and friendly, they link each other's comics, helping their fan base and such increase.

That's what I want. Go back to 2002, start a comic with its own site, update regularly and then attend Otakon in 2004 and get a booth with merchandise and stuff, then meet up with those guys and hopefully make friends with those guys. Of course, this is never going to happen, but I like to dream. In the meantime, I'm going to try and make friends through drunkduck and see how popular I can get (Going to focus on WotN for the sprite haters though. Love doing GG, but there are the biased ones out there)

Until next time
