Abraham Maslow said the reason artists create is to meet the needs of the artist. Be it creating art in order to get food or shelter, or to fulfill something personal, all art means something to the artist. And it's true, y'know.

That's why you'll notice I change my drawing style quite a bit when doing this comic. I didn't think I could create an ongoing comic with a recurring cast and an interesting story. Then I started Lancaster! (oh hush, I think ghosts are interesting!) For me, Lancaster is just one big test run; a way to experiment and change and discover what my hands can do when given the chance.

I like playing around with different styles to see what I can create, and while Lancaster may not be visually consistent, I've learned a lot about creating comics simply by doing it. And that's the number one rule behind learning how to do something: Practice!

Now I hope you want to go out and draw some comics of your own!
