“Dear W. I hope this letter finds you in better health than when we last met. With great sadness I must inform you that father has been killed while putting down a revolt on one of his farms. Due to your ‘unreliable’ state of mind, and with permission of the King, my husband Antoine has assumed father’s title and running of the Duchy. Father’s will stipulated that after your delusionary fevers had lifted, you be supported establishing your career in the military, academy or clergy. Naturally Antoine and I will see that you are provided with an allowance to support you in these pursuits, and any letters necessary to secure yourself a position following your release from the asylum, which I pray for everyday.
