What do you use to make anaglyphs out of 2D images?

Here I used an image editor and some other tools to play arround with the anaglyphing process.
http://www.nottoxic.com/wapcc/ae/aqua/anaglyphtest1.htm
(some are red/cyan, some are red/green)

While manually cutting, smudging etc. is very much a pain in the …. I discovered a free (demo) tool which has unlimited support of its anaglyph functions (only other functions are restricted).

Bas-Relief Demo
http://www.3dphotopro.com/software.html
is very easy. You only need to draw a "depth map" such as:

and it will generate the other sides image automaticly.
I just made a layer and roughly painted with a hard white brush over the areas "up front", then made it transparent and drew over the next "layer", smudging it at the end.

Lasso3D und Auto3D where nice to play arround with, but Lasso3D is much more of a hastle then Bas, and not much easier then editing manually. Plus, the resolution is limited to what your screen can display since there is no zooming…

AnaBuilder has a depthmap function too I think but I was unable to get it to work when I tried it. Maybee theres a new version now :)

Some Images I converted for a "wedding newspaper" with Bas-Relief:

Why would it do that?
Also, I just asked what you use and listed what I have tried so far :)

Could you give me some advice?
When making anaglyph-comics it allways does not turn out too well.
One thing is the coloring that causes phantom images, the other problem seems to be that it just does not work as good with hard outlines :-(

Just leave it like that every Anaglyph dose that just look at Sharkboy and Lavagirl3D and Spy kids3D the red side always shows even if it is almost white.
Its better to make 3D LCD anaglyphs those are the best anaglyphs someone can make but the glasses are impossible to get for free. (That was my opinion)If you want a more reasonable answer go to Yahoo Answers.
