I posted a reply to some comments in my comments section… as i usually do, and i made a joke using the words "hair products" and DD turned those words in to one of them link-ads.

That's a bit much if you ask me.

As far as I know, that's NOT a DD thing :)
And I'm pretty sure I DO know in this case.

That sort of thing can often happen when you have a virus, malware, adware etc on your own comp, so you should do some scans ASAP!!!!

—————-
Edit-
Yep, I've checked out your page and nothing is doing that adlink stuff. You really need to do a scan I'm afraid. Yo gots da net-herpies :(

It's doing it for me too now! EDIT: Yep, I'm noticing it in some other places too. Great. I swear I didn't have this five minutes ago.
…sure there isn't something else going on here, or are we all getting viruses/adware from something? O___o

edit:

"hair products"

edit: edit:

???????????

edit: edit: edit:

so i googled ADSDAQ, and see if they have anything fishy with spyware and malware. and no luck. I think it could be a DD thing since it's starting to pop up now.

There's this one case, but it was with somebody and their blog. not their computer.

I dunno. I'm not getting it, so if it is DD it's gotta be something regional.

I checked were matchee said 'hair products' on his comic and nothing is linking to an ad, might be regional as lba said.

I don't have the "hair product" computer herpes either. I practice safe surf.

Product Placement you have an ad highlight for herpes. I have a feeling it's a regional thing as my email has it too. In this economy they gotta make money. *grumble* damn capitalists. :(

They're putting ads everywhere these days. At least it doesn't lead to a porn storm (a term for the opening of one window leading to several others opening then closing that one leading to even more opening in a never ending cascade.)

I can confirm I'm seeing it here on DD and nowhere else as of right now. It'll take either words someone has written on the forum or even the forum descriptions and make a link from it. Ex. Media Discussion's 'Celebrity' description has a link on my screen.

Yeah, it's doin' it for me.

But the weird thing is, it's not every time the page loads. Just like, every other time. Last time there were no links; then there were; then there weren't; now they are… huh!?

Tell them I hate them!

Not seeing any on dd. Might be a browser thing? Let's say if a malicious ad uses activeX to install something on your pc, then as an opera user I'm safe from that (as it ignores activex entirely… which is usually good, unless you want to use an online antivirus scanner). Or I simply didn't catch the "bug" yet.

Anyway, first time I hear about something like that. Pretty tricky, no one will think of scanning their pc and will just instead curse at the "bastard website putting ads everywhere these days".

HA HA HA HA! I'm loving that irony.

I wonder if it's virus related or if your internet service provider is being a dick and selling you out as an ad space.

Weird. I don't think its a virus because I'm on a totally different computer and still experiencing it(i was on a PC before, now I'm on a Mac)– I don't think I would have the same virus on both computers. Plus SO many people are noticing this.

So far I've seen like 3 or 4 in this post alone.

The common factor would be Firefox, though, so i'm going to come right back in Safari and see what happens. I wonder if FF/Mozilla sold us out on the latest update?!?!

People who are seeing the ads: What browser are you using?!?!?

Nope. Getting the same results with Safari…. must not be a browser thing.

I haven't seen any of these…. so it's either something regional on DD's end, or something relating to people's ISP (though that seems like a pretty strange one, they don't make their money that way)

I'm getting it with IE.
For stuff like "vacuum cleaner." Good grief.
My virus scanner hasn't picked up anything - and it's happening on both computers - work and home.

Posted at

ok… then it could be DD. It's either regional (and thus I'm not seeing any ads since I'd get Polish words highlighted rather then english, perhaps?) or something that Opera blocks.

Can't be a virus if it's on more than one system and can't be browser related if it pops up on several browsers.

If you're not seeing anything, what kind of browser are you using and what's your location?
