I thought it would be fun to have a coloring contest for any artists who want to flex the coloring techiques.

I'll supply one black and white line art pic and you guys color it!
Then after I get enough responses we'll all vote on the winner as a Drunk Commuinity.

I'll hash out the rules after anyone replies.

Anyone interested? :P

I'll lose, because I'm hideously out of practice when it comes to coloring but it sounds fun.

That's the Spirit!! :D
Ok what kinda file would every one prefer. If you want a more detailed pic we can use my account Deviant as middle ground or we can do a large bitmap here at the duck.

Jpeg it is.
Here's the link to my Deviant Art account. http://myndtwitch.deviantart.com/

Just scroll down to the Recent Deviations and click on the 'DeathHound' pic you cant miss it. Make sure you click on the 'Zoom' In to get the full best rez.
Its a big picture so give it a sec to load…

Now for the details!!

"Due date is March 6th" I'm giving everyone plenty of time to do your best so let's see what you can do. This also will help you keep up with your comics.

"Reward" We'll since I post my comic on a non profit web site it's a clear bet that I have no money to give anybody (including bill collectors).
But what I can give you is some art work…
The winner will get a cover piece from me for their comic! You tell me what to draw and color and I'll do it for you. Also I'll put your winning piece on Jade Revolver and my Deviant account with full props!

"Odds & Ends" All I ask is that you keep my signature and the name bar at the botom of the pic. Also please fill in your name in "colored by" (times font).
Do me favor and reply on this post to let me know if you got file or not or if you have any questions.
———————————————————————————-
This is a chance to have some fun and for all of us to bond as a community (sappy I know) but that's why alot of us are here. So let's have fun doing what we love to do 'Creating Art' :D
Thanks
Jason

I WON'T TOUCH IT!!

Why? Because I can't in good faith stay true to your shading cues. I find them contradictory and nonsensical, as so were I to 'color' the piece - I'd be changing it too radically by enforcing a consistant lighting scheme.

Nice drawing, but where's the light source? If you don't know, let the colorist figure it out.

Wow…Mykill uh thanks
Wait know I think that was an insult some how.
I am the colorist.
Thanks for the bitch feast though. Have fun…..

GOOD question Warofwinds

What would be best for everyone?

We can…
A) post them on the forum using Photobucket.com
B) email them to me
C) any other suggestions.

Sorry I hadn't come up with an answer sooner I honestly thought everyone forgot about the contest.
I can't wait to see the finished Pics :P
Thanks
Jason

Depending on how many people enter, I would suggest definitely -not- just putting them in the post. Can't let people see it before time, now can we :D How 'bout we send you the url of the photobucket/imageshack/etc or the image tag in a PM, and at the deadline we create a new post with everyone *coughmine?cough* in it?

..I at least had fun with this. So I suggest other people start on colorin' ;)

That's a great Idea Photobucket me in a Private message and we'll go from there until the due date!! :o

now dont get me wrong when i say this, i am not bitching or anything, i just find it realy hard to color it with all the added shading…..i color in a pretty basic way so i need clean clear non hetched line art on top layer to color it, i wuld love to do this but i dont think im aloud to remove the hteching, am i?

Hmm, I too had a hard time coloring it. I never cross-hatch on things I'm going to color on PS, but then again, it -is- a contest. It's supposed to be a little hard. Maybe next time around (if we do it again), a bunch of people could put forth lines, and then we could vote on which to do or something. I'm just happy someone put forth the effort to have everything ready, and the image was really cool. Something I myself would never be able to draw :D Nice work, Jason!

A cross-hatched B&W pic never works right colored. I know this from some experience.

If you want a colorist, then you need to give some freedoms to them. That's just my 2 cents. Take it or not.
