I signed up to drunkduck last night (it's now 4am) because it looked fun ;D
In doing so, I thought I should try my hand at making a webcomic. I've always wanted to make one, but never gotten round to it (and never been sure many people would like it).

But I have a strip up now nonetheless! And there's more on their way each day, though a daily update won't be promised…

Check it out (www.drunkduck.com/instant_tea) and drop me a comment or something - or leave one here, it's up to you. You may infact choose to pretend you never read any of this. That's fine. So long as you do make a decision, I wouldn't want anyone stuck on this decision for the rest of their life.

Also make sure to read my author comments! They try and explain things to those of you who may be confused by the concept.

On a side note I used to have a graphics tablet, but had to leave it at home now, so probably not the best time to start a comic, but I will maybe start a whole new one when I get it back

Oh also, I'm at uni incase, you know, that was something you're curious about.

Anyhoo, hi, I'm Alec.

Hi, Alec. I'm Lynn. Welcome to Drunk Duck, from one late-night lurker to another, welcome welcome welcome! Drunk Duck has helped me through many an insomnia laden morn. Best of luck with the comic, I don't blame you for not promising daily updates…it's a toughie.

Hey there fellow late-nighter! I know what you mean, I'm addicted to webcomics and can spend days on end just browsing them; I do sleep though.

As for daily updates, well it's not really something anyone should promise - even at my standard!

I feel my comic isn't so much about the art, but more so the humour.
Perhaps I ought to use it as a quest to find like-minded people :D

your toil and trouble comic looks very similar to an art style of cartoon I watched when I was very young, it's awesome! I can't remember the name of it though…

Also, they do get better. This however is just my opinion..
at least stick around for a while with my comic - this applying to anyone who reads it.

Please?

I sleep sometimes, not as much as a "normal" person…But, what IS normal?

We're about to try our hand at a daily (Mon-Fri) I'll let you know if we've bitten off more than we can chew. Thanks for lookin' at "Toil and Trouble." I really need to get off my bum and do something with that. I started it when I had writer's block and I haven't had it in a while. But, I'll have to make an effort to do a few.

I'll give your comic a glance…Remember, you are just starting, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Maybe you're being too kind!

Seriously.. 5??

There wasn't so much a joke, it's more random… the second one has a joke ;D
which you can look out for! maybe this wasn't such a great starting strip. it's just one that i like in an un-understandable way.

and the fourth one has a totally awesome joke.

but thanks for commenting and giving an awesome rating (:
your husband has nice arts too

Hey there green-winged-thing!

Oh but I'm meant to be introducing myself here, not my comic ..

so yeah! I'm from england.. good old sunny england, I'm a huge webcomic fan - and like fantasy ones a lot, alongside gaming. Ninja ones are the best however (as my two favourite things are fish and NINJAAAAS), and even if you don't think they're all that amazing, dr.mcninja is one of the best comics around. Ones with a hint of romance are cool too - so long as it's not sloppy (you know what I meaaaan).

as for other forums, I go on gaiaonline and that's about it - this forum is HUGE though, so ;P

by way of music, I love a lot of bands, and my favourites tend to change about a bit sometimes - but Radiohead is one of my all time favourites. Indie/rock/ska punk/alternative / maybe a bit of metal. That's my taste.

Thinking of getting to know me? It's not that easy. Sure I'll answer questions, talk with people and be friendly, but really getting to know somebody is something else - and likewise with me depending on who you are, you may see different sides to me.

I guess I should have edited this into first post.
But oh well.

Welcome! Help yourself to anything from the box of complemantary meat over there in the corner.

And about the daily updates: don't promise them if you can't follow up on it. It's sent me into late night comicking more than once, which isn't always as pleasant.
By all means though, if you can do it, do it. The more there is, the better!

@Insanity: alecisonfire is just a take on the band Alexisonfire (:

@Rutger: complementary meat!!!!! freakin' awesome!! updating daily is tempting, but I'm worried my reserve of fresh ideas may run a few dry spells if I attempt this.

thanks both of you for the welcome (:

I've run into that problem a few times, but it helps to know where you want to take the story. If you have the last panel for the comic, the rest will come eventually.

Yeah, very true.

I'm thinking my comic may change what type it is halfway through aswell

I change types all the time. I started out as a gag comic, but right now it's actually got a big storyline planned out. Well, kinda planned out.

Posted at

Heh nice, I'm not sure I'd make mine into a storyline comic though.
If I was going to make a storyline, I'd rather it be an assisted one - well, me doing the story and a decent artist doing the art ..

I tried that, but that's also why it failed miserably. Contact between me and the artist was pretty much nonexistant, so I just gave up on that.

I can't draw a penny's worth myself, so I gave spriting a shot. Turned out I've got a knack for that, and so far it's been met pretty well. I think it's because it's not a gaming sprite and doesn't features Sonic or Mega Man…

Posted at

I'd have to agree with you there, and the gimmicks to begin with were funky too :D
I don't normally read sprite comics as they tend to be pretty unoriginal, and finding ones that stick out is hard!

I'm pretty good at editing, so I might have been able to do a decent enough sprite comic - but it wouldn't have gone with any ideas I have so hey.

The problem about unoriginality is the problem I'm trying to contradict. I'm putting a lot of effort into every comic and panel to make it look good, and I try to at least have a halfway decent story going on.
So far, reactions've been pretty good, so I'd say that I'm getting where I was trying to go with this comic.

Yeah good work. I feel I need the other pages to upload before people will start reading it much.. they seriously get better! At least I've had supportive feedback (:
Most of my comics are going with a 'drunk duck' theme, in that you could consider me being drunk when I made them..
