Well, the root canal went smoothly and I've had the permanent filling placed in. Can't even tell (from the outside) that I've had one. I'm still trying to get used to the feeling of the tooth, though. It only bugs because it's been seven years since my crash and now it feels like the tooth was never damaged along the back…except for a rough texture.
I ran into a snag when doing my animation project, which is setting me back like no one's business. In addition…I'm not sure if I'll be doing the comic anymore. It's very close to writing and I've given up on writing…

The 2009 Rant, Vent, and Share thread
hah, at four hours a night I'd totally crash my system after a week. I need six at minimum, preferably 7 and up to 8 on nights when I'm actually tired.I've definitely had spans of time where I was pullin' 14-16 hours of studio/comic/art workin' a day… well, if you minus coffee breaks, smoke breaks, and beer breaks. I'd sleep 4 hours a night… man, I wish I could do that all the time. Just keep the "manic" and toss out the "depressive". >:)Except I'll probably end up being 40 before I get to tell this particular story :PHeh. I feel ya. It took me 7 years to tell this one, and it'll be another 7 years before I finish it and get to move on to "The Next Big Comic Project". Unless I somehow develop the ability to work 18 hours a day, nonstop, on comics. ;)
18 hour workday. Now there's a thought! Let me think…
buy a treadmill so I can read "research material" while walking/exercising, have someone bring you meals… nah, wouldn't work, you'd still need to go to the toilet, dress up, sleep and take breaks :P
But hey, 10 hours should be doable :D
In the right setting I can work for 6 or 8 hours. these were the conditions I was finishing Din Krakatau in… night, a stack of pillows and blankets behind my back, a hardcover book serving as a table on my lap, a stack of pages on top of that and me curled up nicely while winamp plays a bunch of comic related podcasts :D
I hope I can get myself into the habit of working daily at some point. And 8 hour working day + the 2 hours you'd normally waste on getting to and back from work, that'd be 10 hours :D
But, to do that I need to be sure I can live from comics first.
It doesn't help things that Barbie is made in China. lol!Not for the Chinese :p
They make most of the bigscreen TVs in the world too but not for the domestic market.
Toys and hobby marketing is different from consumer electronics. :p
Barbie is sold in Wal-mart in China, along side the Japanese designed Asian Barbies. Some Asian Barbies in Asia are different from the US Asian Barbie, some having Manga/Anime features.
One Chinese Barbie clone is Gloria and a lot of Gloria's accessories are repackaged for Mattel's Barbie. Same box, different label. How dare they do that! Did you forget I do this whole action figure thing? ;) Some of the Asian Babs clones may have blonde hair and blue eyes, but the eye shape is decidedly Asian.
perusing Hobbylink Japan will give you a good idea about Japanese fashion dolls which leach over into China, Korea etc.
Also it seems that for the collector's figures red hair is very popular. You think it's brown hair, it arrives in the mail and it's always auburn! :(
I feel like I'm going to throw up. I have absolutely no energy.
Hoping my mom will realize that I don't feel well, and she should probably keep me home. I don't have H1N1 (Swine Flu) or anything, but it's always good to be cautious.
I haven't gotten ANY drawing done at all today. Besides the fact that I've felt like crap all day, I had a really long worksheet to do for Physical Science, and then 2 worksheets for Economics. After that, I basically had to help my mom with this presentation she had, and type her up a paper.

Also, what do you think of using "superpowered urban fantasy" as a tagline/sub-title for my webcomic? While din krakatau was in a small town, most of the later volumes will happen in one big city and all the important characters do seem superpowered (although it's mostly magic based skills/weaponry).

I went to get my hair cut a bit today. I said "a trim" but apparently in hairdresser language that means "Do whatever the heck you want to my hair!" because she gave it layers, curls, and put in ridiculous amounts of sprays and gels, the smell of which are now giving me a pretty brutal headache. Ach, I just hope it looks normal-ish when I wash out all the product, because at the moment it looks so out of place it's almost like a wig.
Next time I go to get my hair cut I'm going to have to be like "No product, no straighteners" straight out. I hate it when I can't actually tell from the way I go home how my hair will look two days later.
Tonight, I made my girlfriend a new aim icon. (I'm such a dork.)
It is of a red panda (her favorite animal), playing a bassoon (her instrument of choice). 
I'm very proud of it, even though it took about five minutes.
Also Hippie Van, I hate bad haircuts. Right now, I'm enjoying growing my hair out a bit, although nothing Ozone length.
At work this morning my brain went into slow-mo. It was like it hit a boggy patch and just couldn't get out. Thinking was mush.
It was a huge effort to make myself think at even half speed. Lucky I had hardly any work to do because the 3 normally 10 minute jobs I did undertake took me the whole work day. And even then job number 3 has only just be started, barely started.
I suppose I better eat some red meat or something to try and get the brain working again… Serves me right for slipping into vegetarianism through laziness.

-I've just been outside in the garden looking up at all the bird activity. The umbrella tree is fruiting with its bright crimson berries and the birds are loving it. There's yellow finches with about 8 tiny little green/yellow babies flitting about up there like mosquitoes, playing and fighting and eating. Wattlebirds croaking away. Bronze-wing doves blundering about. And brilliantly coloured nimble little rainbow lorikeets looking like clumsy giants next to those ting baby finches. They're all feeding on the fruits and competing with the masses of bees who're also attracted to them.
There's noisy, hooting flights of corellas in the distance… And up high above in the blue clear sky there was a perfect "V" of ducks flying slowly and lazily, like kites tied together or a streamer on the waves…
Beautiful. Now I'm happy. ^___^
Man, it is gonna be so hard to go back to work tomorrow… I had 'earned' two days off (from working a full weekend) so I took them Friday and today (Monday was a holiday) meaning I've had a 5-day weekend. I made a list today of stuff I need to get started on this week and all the energy drained right out of me. I'm that old victorian word, enervated. So, I have today left, but I'm going to use it to do a bunch of errands and stuff which will hopefully get me more psychologically ready to head back to work tomorrow. :
Also I just realized I forgot to do a newspost yesterday. Today's will take me a while to put together… so it will have to wait til lunch is cooking! (That will still only be like 7am in America so no one will miss it.)
Fuckin pisses me off when people who draw a half-assed mspaint comic with no backgrounds and flat perspective lacking poses think they're professional because it's on time. Just no, never improving your comic or craft just to follow a schedule is not something to be proud of.
Ugh i can't wait to be over with school and start making comics again, speaking of which i still have crap to do on this damn essay, only the works cited and two more paragraphs tho

But I just read somewhere yesterday, that apparently I draw in an anime-ish style? I've been told it's original, but like, with manga-elements. Like all the really super cute expressions. So I'm a little confused on that one.
But I can't really let it get to me. It's not that big of a deal anyway. I'll just sit here, with my nice cup of coffee (mmmm. I drink one every morning) and maybe try to draw pages in school today. Since today seems to be just one of those days.

I went outside and there were a few birds starting to wake up… the sky was purple… I sat on a bench and it was wet… so I went back into the computer lab. Which is where I've spent the entire night, "writing my paper", aka surfin' the DD forums and occasionally writing a paragraph. heh!
luckily I run best when I have 3 hours of sleep in me. I make up on the weekends, sleeping 12 or so hours in one stretch, and then napping about 5 more. It's a wondrous life, 'tis.
I have two spanish papers due tomorrow, too… eh… 10 pages each. in spanish. haven't even started reading the stuff I'm gonna write about!!!! XD yay me.

I decided not to wait for the last minute with relaunching my comic under a new title and I'm currently working buttondesigns etc.
I have one problem though, I have no idea where to go with the "style" option… I used experimental previously but it's not THAT experimental. is it cartoony? a bit, but not that much… and it draws both from american comics and manga (and european and underground and realistic and and and… you get the point)
It's really annoying, haha.
Chair or no chair? Do I say to hell with continuity and set a scene in a castle merely because I'm sick of putting everything outside? All those fields do get monontonous. Throne? Dais, carpeting? Sounds like work. Damn detailed backgrounds.
Redesigning costumes because Terry Jones needed a costume that didn't stand out from everybody else and what dresses do the ladies-in-waiting wear this time? They can't wear the same dress in two scenes even if the last scene they appeared in was posted six months ago.
Maybe some Asian Babs clones… I blame you Ozone, I'm inventing a subplot to add another Asian female character! lol!
At least I have a scene coming up without backgrounds. Well, it will be all digital effects, it's easy once I figure out what the hell it's supposed to look like!
