So what's your favorite dish where one of the main ingredients is pasta? From spaghetti noodles to elbow macaroni, and other similar dishes?

Mine would be spaghetti and meatballs. Covered in parmesan cheese. Mmmmmm….

And yes… this dish is an AMERICAN dish. Go to an Italian restaurant in Italy and you won't find it on the menu, and the waiter/esses will give you a confused look if you order spaghetti noodles, sauce, and meatballs…

I had spaghetti with meat sauce earlier. A huge-as-butt meal from a local Italian restaurant. It wasn't all that great… I like my mom's spaghetti better.

I like all kinds of pasta. Any kind of tomato sauce + pasta is good. Favorite way to make spaghetti is with chicken in place of meatballs. Not chicken parmesan– but chicken breast chunks in the sauce.

Also, spaghetti noodles with Zesty Italian dressing– favorite pasta salad ever.

Chicken spaghetti with a red sauce and mushrooms. My mom makes it whenever I visit her, and I always stuff myself with it until I get sick. But it's so good!

We call it "Chicken Spaghetti", and not a single tomato comes near the dish.

1 bag of cooked spaghetti noodles
2 cooked chicken breasts, chopped
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 can sliced black olives
1 can green pesto
1 stick melted butter
dash lemon juice
salt
pepper

Mix it all up, put it in a casserole dish and top with mozzerella cheese and bake until the cheese is good and toasty. Delish.

Red lentil pasta is a dinner staple for me. Red lentils and lots of other healthy crap thrown into a blender, then served over pasta. What makes it great is a tiny bit of cinnamon.

I also make vegan fettuccine alfredo sometimes(because I can't eat parmesan cheese). It's pretty good.

My mom makes the most incredible marinara sauce. You can pretty much just throw it on anything and it's delicious, from parms to penne but plain old spaghetti with that sauce is just amazing.

I miss the days when I could ignore the stomach aches and eat it with romano or parmesan cheese… stupid casein allergy. ) :

Yes! And then tortellini comes in a close second for me.

Putanesca! Gotta love a dish that's translation means "whorish". Spaghetti Carbonara is a close second. Picci al Fumo is third. I've had the wonderful opportunity of eatin' this stuff in its homeland though, so I'm a bit spoiled and snobbishly critical of American versions. :(

I had an Italian roommate one time. You'd definitely get along with him. ;)

I make a pesto from the basil we grow that everyone in the family likes - and that's no easy trick. Even my brother's SO likes it and he has quite the discerning palate.

So usually we make it with bow ties, some sauteed chicken or shrimp in garlic, and then a do-it-yourself add-in of: black olives, cherry tomatoes, green onions, cubed mozzarella, and maybe some roasted peppers and/or snap peas.
