Feathered Wildebeest

Pictured here - Feathered Wildebeest

The feathered wildebeest lives in grasslands or lightly forested areas, feeding off of the low lying vegetation and flowers. They are large pack animals, roaming in the hundreds. Feathered wildebeest stand as tall as five foot at their shoulders, weigh five to six hundred pounds and can reach speeds of forty miles per hour for moderate bursts. Their main defense is their large herds, but are also known to shake their heads, ruffling the feathers around their necks in a furious display to scare off predators. Small spikes protruding from the neck and side offer another deterrence.

Yiras' Gazelle

Pictured here - Yiras' Gazelle

Yiras' Gazelle can live in moderate desert, grassland, and light to moderately forested areas, feeding primarily off of the plants and leaves. Yira's Gazelles are noted for their distinguishing red faces and long black feathers. They are quick, able to maintain speeds of fifty miles per hour for extended periods of time. The Yiras' Gazelle are usually 24 to 28 inches tall at shoulder height, and weigh no more than 220 pounds. They live in small herds, often sticking close to larger grazing animals in the open grasslands. In groups, their waving black feathers are very distracting and confusing to predators, as they can be mistaken for a single large animal at times.

Both these animals look good, and feel like they could have evolved/adapted the same way. I still think we should work on some kind of feathered fish.. Or a flying fish…Blasphemy!

well… the wings of elish-ahn fly, but they aren't technically fish… though perhaps the parasitic defense mechanism (the swarm) are some kind of fish or eel.

Róba-yu (rah-bah-you)

Pictured here - Róba-yu Profile and Róba-yu in Flight.

Xuur-dunda name meaning “those who hunt”. Róba-yu, sometimes called “tree dragon”, are localized to the Moboko forest west of Alamesh, generally found in the deeper forests of Kuur-xi. These creatures do not fly, so much as glide from the heights of the great trees, falling upon their prey from above. They are solitary creatures, making nests in the branches of forest trees. Róba-yu can stand four to five feet tall, with a wingspan of nine to twelve feet. The long tail feathers can extend up to fourteen feet, and serve to aim the Róba-yu’s falling glide when moving about the forest or hunting. The “tree dragon” is slow on foot, but quick at climbing, with talons perfectly equipped for traversing the bark of trees or dispatching prey. They typically eat small game, but will attack larger animals as well, and have been known to attack Xuur-dunda or humans on occasion.

Nementela (nem-en-tale-ah)

Pictured here - Nementela

Also known as the “grooming lemur”, this mammal lives in the greater Moboko forest, spending most of its life moving from tree to tree. Rarely do the Nementela touch the forest floor. They use their long snouts to feed off of ants and other insects buried in the bark of trees, in a slow, methodical process that appears as if the Nementela is grooming the surface of the tree. The Nementela moves slowly, and is excellent at climbing. They can easily hang onto the smaller branches and limbs near the tree tops, helping them stay out of the grasp of hungry predators. Adults generally have body sizes of three to four feet. Bekantela-bru (bek-ahn-tale-ah-broo), a relative of the Nementela, live at the top of the towering trees in the Kuur-xi depths, and can grow to tremendous sizes, eleven to thirteen feet at times.

Nimse (nim-zee)

Pictured here - Nimse

A small bird native to the forests of Moboko and the surrounding areas, though not strictly confined to this habitat. They are plentiful in the thick forests, but can be seen across nearly the entire continent. The Nimse is often considered a sign of good fortune when observed beyond the greater Moboko forest ranges. Their diet consists of nuts, berries and small insects. Feather coloration varies greatly, the males of the species typically being the brightest colored, from red to yellow, green to blue. Females will generally have less dramatic colorings, or brown to grey feathers. The Nimse can also be found with stark white feathering (both male and female). It is thought that the different colorations depend heavily upon dietary habits of the individual bird. The Nimse is a very small creature, rarely larger than four or five inches in length.
