so the world itself ranges from high tech to low tribal civilizations, there is magic (which is the great equalizer against the high technologies)

there are two major civilizations on the current continent: The people of the dawn/grey army/body of elish-ahn and the red army. The grey army is centered on the city of Alamesh, where lies the crown of Elish-Ahn. The people of the grey army are generally religious, believing the old tales of Elish-Ahn's battle to free the people from Makesh. The red army is more scientific in nature, skeptically questioning the world around them. Insults against Elish-Ahn, and the red armies use of flight (which is considered a most sacred act among the followers of Elish-Ahn) have led to conflict. Bid for ancient technologies left over from the time of Makesh has led to the brink of war. they are generally in conflict with the smaller states/tribes/peoples, probably a bit of subjugation going on, but treaties are not out of the picture either. probably these two armies are little more then an afterthought to certain people.

the final goal of these two armies is to get off world, due to an impending disaster (for Elish-Ahn, it is the return of Makesh) through myth and prophecy most of the grey army knows of the return of Makesh and the reawakening of Elish-Ahn, however, leaving the planet is not something they suspect. likely only the highest up know the endgame, the rest are following orders, some with religious conviction, others with personal motivation.

below are things to consider when working on aspects of the world (I'm going to start linking items on this list to the relevant posts)

a loosely labeled map can be found here - Current Map

a full world map here - Full World Map

Races and Peoples
Grey Army (people of the dawn)
Red Army
Luxxites
Edo'Ossis
Tathe
Pithe (salt people)
Casel-Clem
Xuur-dunda (gazelle-kin)
Marduki
Unkhavi

Gods and Kings
Nu (nox-tolar, creator, often unmentioned)
Elish-ahn
Makesh
Exspes
Gopahla
Marduk (worm god)
The Four Winds (of casel-clem)
Obdurate, Annis, Blesphal (favorites)
Gorramalt (frog god)

Plants and Animals, Creatures
Werta-waa (trees that appear humanoid)
Qoorxas-aar (constructs of Gopahla)
Yiras' Gazelle
Feathered Wildebeest
Róba-yu (tree dragon)
Sand Wraith (a desert ray)
Star of the Desert (a large starfish type creature in the deep desert. sand blowing over its body produces a large electrical charge which the star can discharge, mayhaps to defend itself or kill prey, producing a rolling thunder)
Wings of Elish-Ahn (giant flying whales used by the grey army as an aerial armada of sorts)
Newt/Salamander Humanoid (a slave race to the Tathe, used primarily as spies to the surface world, often simply as eyes in the ancient cities, but occasionally as agents that watch over the business of surface dwellers.)

Places
Ilishuda (The spiritual plane on which the physical was built, nexus of all other planes)
Alamesh (crown of Elish-Ahn)
Exspes' Shadow (bog/fen area near telis'fi, east of Alamesh, home of the edo'ossis)
Luxxites homeland (currently unmapped, should be far south of current continents?)
The vast underworld and its inhabitants (i need to learn how to draw cave systems).
Telanim (city of mages, worship some crow/raven god, possibly from the islands east of the mainland and the city)
Kasid (ancient city in the deep deserts)
Merith Sin (Archaic city of the deserts, adorned by vulture statues)
Kallen'desh

Magics and Technology
The rule (a collection of ideas taken from the various planes and woven into a static collection of principles by which the physical world is bound.)

Favorites (powerful beings left by old gods. magic in the form of favors earned by men by performing some task for the favorite.)

Blood Magics (from the blood of the world in Elish-Ahn/Makesh mythology, spread through ancestry to the first sons and first daughters of Makesh. An ability to control portions of the world by being directly tied to the blood of the world. Sometimes explained as a genetic attunement to the molecular structuring of the earth, or the magnetic fields and ley lines that run around the earth. Often uses runes that draw on subtle variations in attraction and opposition of the aforementioned along predetermined, and natural, patterns.)

I had discussed with Baron a arctic continent separated from the others by a archipelago. I think I will go through with this, and place a rogue nation on the continent. The continent will not be nearly as big as our Southern one. The founding nation will have fled their from the Red army centuries back. I am hoping that they will be a sect of the Red army that is out for the capture of all Illishuda native gods(I am positive I spelled that wrong). Because of this they have stripped the land and water around the continent of all natural resources and the small continent itself might entirely be built upon? Anyway, the closest way that they can begin invading other areas (after all they still are Red Army) would be to travel across the Archipelago, however, their previously experiments have rendered this area a haven for monstrous mutations and dramatic and erratic weather. They have tired several times to cross, but all have ended in the complete destruction of their air, sea, and ground forces. They are currently building another fleet in an attempt to cross again. Their tech is fueled by pulling power from captured deities. Anyway, if we are interested in this let me know.

sounds good to me. i have a very rough world map i was working on, just to get the size of our current continents vs the overall map. i'll rough it out a little more and post it, then we can decide on the basic landmasses from there? either that, or sketch out what you had in mind (in relation to the current map) and i'll make it work.

Where in the world map is the Red Army City? I think that will matter in one or two of my narrative strings. And any specifics on the Mekarian Wastes? Or can I run with that?

red army is on a continent to the south of our mapped area. nothing specific other then that at the moment… i have a rough sketch of the whole planet… i'll try and clean it up a little and post it, just keep reminding me if i don't get it up.

mekarian wastes i think of as a sandy terrain (almost ashlike sand, very fine) with sharp rock formations sticking up outta the ground. very little water or vegetation. i haven't worked out why its like this, though i want to have a past event that caused the transformation and left it as a wasteland, not just a natural occurrence.((edit: there is broken land north of the mekarian wastes where a civilization's main city was destroyed, most of the land is now small islands half sunk into the water, this might have been the cause)) no plans for it as of yet though, so if you need it to be something else, go ahead.

edit: okay, i remember why i didn't finish the planet map. i need that rough sketch from adam of his northern continent! still, i'll work on something.

edit 2: got a full world map up now in the first post under our current map. should give you an idea of the scale of this project <.<

use whichever you prefer.

i can do more banners, just let me know what you'd like.

visit ilishuda comic and add it to your favorites. then try clicking on you own picture here in the forums or on the dd homepage. it will bring you to a page which lists your public profile, friends and favorites. there will be an "edit about yourself" in the orange bit to the left under your picture. add some text about the project and one of the links from above (and anything else you wanna add).

then to the right in the bit that says "comics recommended by yourname" hit the edit your recommends and set ilishuda as one of them.
