Hello potential person reading this who might be one of the contributors to the DrunkDuck Volume 3 book from a long while back!

Please send me a PQ as soon as possible if you are still interested and alive/active. :) I would really appreciate that thank you.

I will unsticky this in a week or so.

Oh sure, a Newspost isn't enough.

Seriously though, I can't wait for this. I shall buy it.

will there be a chance for new people to join up?

Posted at

There ought to be, once they've sorted out which material in the book they can still use.

Hi everyone! I got a few PQs about people interested in joining up so I figure I should clarify what's going on right now.

At the moment I'm looking to get into contact with the original contributors. I need them to PQ me so that I know they're active and still interested. Once that's figured out, we'll be looking at whether or not we'll be needing more contributors. If we do, details will follow very soon.

It's cool that you guys are interested! :D But just a word of caution: this has a really tight deadline.

would new people have to contribute all new material or will you guys use comics that are already posted here on DD?

Posted at

It needs to be new content. Material that can't be seen elsewhere helps sell the book. (They usually have a theme as well, but with the tight deadline who knows if that will be the case this time… previously it was 'humor')

Although 6 months after the book comes out for purchase, people can post their contributions or use them elsewhere.

How many pages is the contribution supposed to be? I must say I am interested.

I'd clean up some exclusive penis stuff for the book. Definitely.
If penis gets into the book, I will actually step inside a Barnes in Noble to get it.

It would be nice if someone could repost whatever submission guidelines there are so that those of us who are potentially interested can be ready if and when an announcement is made that there are more contributors needed… I'm very interested, but I'm slow, and if the theme is something I can't play by, there's no point.

Posted at

I'd post that but I don't have that information, unfortunately. I think they want to see who is staying in first, maybe?

However the original submissions were 'humor' as a theme, and 8-12 pages each.
(Or maybe it was 8-20…) The book prints in greyscale, so no color.

and um…. page dimensions I'd have to get back to you on. I know they want 300dpi though.

Usually for submissions, there's a pitch first, like a 1-page writeup with an example page. Then people are chosen for the book from that.

Apparently it's a pretty tight window though. I have a feeling the minimum page limit will be cut down (maybe to 4 or 5?) so people actually have time to do something for it after they're picked.

Yeah I've been trying to get into contact with the original contributors first since that will determine how much room we have left in the book. It is indeed humour themed and most likely there will be room for new contributors. I think the question really is how many.

We're looking at around 15 contributors with about 10-14 pages per person. (Although Skoolmunkee's idea is cool~) 300 DPI yes and the dimensions are as follows:

The art should be 8.5" by 5.125", the actual book size is 9.25" x 6.125".
The cover should be designed to be that size, plus a bleed edge of .25" all
around - giving a total size of 9.5" x 6.375". Nothing important should be
in the bleed edge because it will be trimmed off.

I can't remember if I PQ'ed you back or not. Vidiot and I are still up for it. Do you still have our material from before? I'll have to hunt for it otherwise. (There may be copies of it in my Nightgig account.)

As for dimensions and what not, I thought we were told 600dpi… oh well.

It's about time this got around to being done. I've been sitting on those strips for about 21 months.

:P

Uuh, yeah, here's a somewhat belated "thanks for the info". ;-)

I actually have something that I could do in case there are open slots, but the time pressure will be pretty steep…

Posted at

I'm not a regular forumite, but I'd love the chance to pitch an idea if there are any open slots coming up.

Guys, just an FYI here. There are only a few slots for book 3. So, even if we haven't approached you for a contribution, there will be another book eventually!

Posted at

I really need to pay more attention to the forums. Sounds like there isn't much time or space left in this book, but I am very interested in contributing for the next book.
