I remember this dude talking about the seven sins, what they are, how they grow in ya, how to expel them, all of that stuff. So that got me thinking, in people's personality's there's probably a dominant sin which heavily influences how they think and act. So I ask you, fellow drunk ducker's, what's yer sin? What is the biggest one that affects you and your life?

Here's the list, the sin and it's opposites that I could get, to help figure it out. Not the stupidest thread I've made, I think.

Pride-Humility
Greed-Generosity
Envy-Love
Wrath/Anger-Kindness
Lust-Self Control
Gluttony-Uh, I forgot..
Sloth-Zeal

Pride-Humility
Greed-Generosity, charity
Envy-Self acceptance, esteem
Self acceptance is being loving and happy with who you are now
Wrath/Anger-Kindness, forgiveness, patience
Lust-Chastity
Gluttony-abstinence, temperance
Sloth-Diligence, passion, motivation

Fixed!

Sloth be my bane by the way.

Sloth is definitely mine.

"whoa hold on don't you work out and work all the time?"

yeah, but then i have plenty of other time (4-6 hours a day) to do stuff, but normally i spend it laying around wanting to do other stuff, or planning to do other stuff. but mostly i don't do anything.

Envy, I'm really bad with that. I'm the most envious of people who are outgoing, because I constantly worry that I'm being annoying so I get all shy. :[

Lust probably.

For you

all of you

That's cool, I guess.

I pretty much have most of those sins… but I think lust is still the biggest one. Even though it diminished a great deal since I got more spiritual and all that.

For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

(Proverbs 24:16)

I'm greed for sure, which is kind of funny since i'm surrounded by people who are very giving. I do give back, but uh, probably not as much as i'm given.

Pride

I'm surprised no one else has claimed that one yet…? O_O

That's my worst one in a big way :(

Wrath. Definitely wrath.

I'm usually a calm person in real life, but it's not very wise to piss me off.

This is tough cuz I think the only one that hasn't been a challenge for me is lust.

So, for instance, I should be doing a powerpoint presentation now instead of goofing off in the forums. I'll get around to it, but this is probably my greatest fault: procrastination. I guess that's sloth? Or a form of gluttony? Greed to spend my time the way I want to spend my time? Better not tell me cuz I'm too proud and I could get mad (ha ha)

btw: I suggest "faithfulness" (???) as the counter to lust, only because self-control is really the counter to all of them.

Same here, guess that explains Cubicle ;)

I'm generally very placid but when I lose my temper it's like the Tasmanian devil from looney toons. Or was anyway, I learned to control it a loooong time ago.

I'm on a diet, so gluttony sounds soooooooooo good to me right now. -_-

But sloth, definitely. I tend to plug hours into just mucking around online (like right now!) when there is tons of stuff I should be doing.

Pride is probably the LEAST of my sins. In a practical sense, I could do to work on having more of it. I'm your textbook Brit- modest and terrible at talking myself up- but I live in America now, and the ability to believe in yourself and sell yourself to others is essential. I'm having to learn it, and it's very hard.

I think Envy with a side order of Wrath, in my case. I have a severe distaste in my mouth for anyone who has an unjustifiably easy life and feels they're somehow warranted to still make complaints like anyone else. For some people, it's just never enough and they'll never realize how good they have it.

Hmm, also those who do inexplicably well despite seemingly being overrated, effectively plagiarizing, or generic piss me off. Be it movies, cults of personality, webcomics, or otherwise. It's not that I want to be anything like them, but I can get irritated at their seemingly mindless success for what in my eyes, amounts to a shoddy or gimmicky production.

I'd say a rather paradoxical combination of sloth and wrath. I actually tend to be a rather lazy person some times (procrastination, etc.), and I'm also a pretty calm individual. I don't get pissed-off very often, but my friends tell me that when I do, it scares the living hell out of them (or so they've told me). I don't know if it's because people tend to get scared when a very even-headed person suddenly explodes, or if it's actually the magnitude/degree of rage I tend to exhibit when I'm truly angry, but either way, you don't want to cross me.

Pride likely influences all of my actions and relationships. It's pretty much my defining characteristic. This doesn't make me unhappy.

Wrath is pride's dear friend, so it's often around, but I'm not as fond of it…

wrath is mine i think, we all got a little of this and that, but i've got an itchy trigger. i think i handle it allright though. i can ussually stop and collect myself before i do anything. there's been times though when that wasnt the case.

Ochitsukanai said pride is wrath's dear friend and i think this is true. people seem proud that they can have a temper sometimes when really, alot of times, good things dont come of it, specially if you dont know how to handle it.

I dunno, but I think it's more because when someone pricks at your overinflated sense of pride, it leads to bad temper :)

But not quite that bad… not bad enough to be described as wrath. It'd more a case of just being a dick, at least in my case.

Some very BAD things come from a temper, although if channelled right the anger can become motivation and be very constructive. Like pit face I can usually stop myself from losing it but it comes close sometimes… Like when a former neighbour we were having trouble with threatened to hurt my wife and son when I was at work.

well Oz's case can definatly exist. hell, it happens alot, you tell someone they're wrong and they get defensive about it, but i more ment people who wear their anger like a fucking badge, like it makes em some kinda alpha male, and granted alot of us do that sometimes. especially when yer young, ya feel like you have alot to prove. it coincides with alot of pack mentallity. the more ass you can kick…or THINK you can kick, the higher on the rung ya are. it makes you take pride in your anger.

and yeah, it can be channeled well, i mean let's face it, its a basic human response. you WILL get angry sometimes.
