About
Hi, I'm Dudley Horque. After several years of not doing any cartoons, and suddenly finding that, when I wanted to again, my eyesight would not let me, I brought back Dog the Spot, a strip I did in the late 1980s for an arts magazine.
Dog the Spot now alternates Just a Stage (a new theatre based strip), and Professor Vessant appearing in the same place. Just a Stage began with actual drawing, but is now primarily generated with template characters and settings with expressions being edited in a vector editor. Professor Vessant involves actual drawing, which is a strain on my eyes, but I've managed to keep at it for over a year.
Other work of mine includes Dudley the Echidna, New Dark Age, Justine Case, Horqueing Teds, and Back Woods.
Dog the Spot is updated each and every Sunday at this stage, Just a Stage is updated each and every Wednesday, and Professor Vessant is updated each and every Friday. Haven't missed one yet… usually thanks to keeping a few weeks in advance, but sometimes by my teeth's skin.
In real life, I work as a Data Warehouse and Information Delivery Coordinator, and use such tools as DataStage, RedBrick, and BusinessObjects.
I also act (rarely). I have directed three major productions, including the world premiere of The Golden Days of Syracuse. I have sworn never to direct a major production again (it's too much work). I also coordinated the first two years' Play in a Day events for the Newcastle Theatre Company, but have bowed out of doing the 2012 one. PiaD involves putting on several short plays (4 each year the first two years) written, rehearsed and performed within a 24 hour period.
I live on coffee… but go off it for a few weeks every so often… in an effort to reduce work stress (stress usually wins out), since everyone else at work wants to do the opposite.
I share my home with my partner, the wonderful Lauren, a.k.a. Loz, and my cat, Panda.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these odd little strips. Please leave some feedback (I am happy to receive bad ratings if you think they're appropriate). However, please, just don't leave any comments that do not suit All Ages. I'm assuming that at some point I'll be able to get The Duck to handle comments as it once did.
