Heeeeeeeeere's CHARBY

Yawd I am sick of family time. I did have a good time this weekend but one of the reasons I don't have a girl friend at present is that I am an incretably picky self obsessesed naccisist. However that aside I am trying to focus on my projects at the moment and so if I am willing to give up attractive females to work on getting my projects off the ground you can bet I don't want to be spending it with relatives, I want to spend it on my projects. Every weekend it has been a circus of cousins, aunts and uncles. I just want to get some freaking work done.

However one this weekend with my relatives REALLY bothered me. At Easter everyone was talking about 'V for Vendetta'. I said that I had read the original comic and due both to my massive dislike of the walchowski brothers & Allen Moore's blasting of the film, I had no desire to go see the movie. After seeing Sin City, there is no exscuse for betraying an original work the way Allen Moore feels was done with V. Anyway though I got accused of being "Closed Minded" because I wouldn't see the movie. So I agreed that I would go see it but only if they would read Allen Moore's original comic or The Watchmen another of Moore's comics. So do you know what they said "I don't read comics." with the unspoken subtext "Comics are for kids". To which I could only roll my eyes in uncontained contempt. ESPECIALLY given the fact the Moore's work has won countless awards even though it is a comic format and his graphic novel "The Watchmen" is on the top 100 novels on the 20th century. Yet despite all this my relatives made it clear that I am a uncultured snob for my opinions, but they are still not going to read the original work because it is a comic. ARG the hypocracy!!!!!!!

PS: Note I'm not actually a huge Moore fan, I feel most of his work is over rated. Moore has a true gift for characters few can match but his plots often leave me cold and are frequently predicatable. Nonetheless I have deep respect for him as a writter and feel these recent movies are a gross injustice to the man's artistic skill and respect his hardline stance of refusing to take money from the movies because he doesn't want to even appear to nominally aprove of them.
