Multiple Personality Syndrome: A mental condition where a person has made other people inside their mind. These 'people' come out, and if you didn't know it, you'd swear that they were real. These 'people' are made because the person has went through some sort of EXTREMELY stressful event when they were young. These people are created, not as a punishment, but as protection. If one personality was a very charming young man, and Landon was forced into a situation in which a girl was flirting with him, that charming personality might come up to flirt right back.
But Landon has no control over this, does he really know when they come out. One second he could be in his room; and without knowing how he got there, Landon could be in a bar. That's why he calls it 'losing time' or 'amnesia'. He's doing all these things, but it's not him- it's his other personalities.
