Fitz: Thanks a lot! These tidbits like putting Munch's painting on the phone book are usually due to lucky circumstance :-D
TheMidge28: I'm glad you like it! They print all sorts of paintings on phone books over here, so I simply put 2+2 together :-D And concerning fear of rejection: I'm being very honest with my feelings here, the situations I put these characters in are fictitious; but the feelings I wish to communicate are my own. To say he should "take it like a man" is appropriate from a distance – but depicted here is a teenager who cannot put the necessary distance between himself and his feelings. It's all new to him. I remember this feeling clearly; I can treat it humorously from a distance of about ten years, but I wouldn't want to understate the intensity of this feeling of helplessness. Showing what he feels - what I felt - is ultimately the motivation for this entire comic.
