Having Deckard watching the monitors in ep. 1 (on the 2nd page and when Burnett pulled out the gun during the climax) may have been influenced by this scene with him and the monitors… I can't really remember though.
EDIT:
Midge: She hasn't lit it yet :-D she's just pulling it out because she's a junkie and can't wait, lol… actually this is a completely fictitious country… I will explore politics in episode 6. DAJB: Thanks, the constant public surveillance has some (storytelling-)advantages after all :-D Nepath: Thanks a lot! Fitz: Corporations would be giving up advantages in the free market if they were to adhere to some non-economically relevant moral code… so I'm not surprised they behave the way they do. What with Michelle smoking… if there's any point to be made, it's that Jack is attracted to her not because but despite her smoking. I think we'd get along greatly… I hate smoke too. I don't really think it's a problem of smoking though… the same problem is with people coughing or yawning in your face, incidents of which have increased greatly during the past years too :-D
