polo: Thanks a lot! DAJB: Some religious worldviews claim the same… personally I think there's nothing beyond the realm of science, but for me that's just a logical, not a metaphysical, issue. As far as I understand you, you're saying science delineates the boundaries of things to happen… and magic may just be doing something highly improbable… like deliberately causing a miracle? Midge: You're right, not only are these guys scientists, but I'm very much interested in the basics of science… so I jump at every chance of complicating things that I get! It's Michelle, the rule of thumb would be something like: Michelle has a rounder face and black hair. I wouldn't use black areas to shade Naomi's hair, only cross-hatching (at least I think so, but I may have broken that rule sometime…). Fitz: You really hit the jackpot on this one; the lava comparison is spot-on (that's what I always imagined him to be like too), and you're the first one to bring the psychology topic up… opening a skull versus asking her – that's exactly the spirit I wanted to convey. When psychology set out to be a "serious science" in the early 20th century they went through the same kind of debate, and neuro-sciences nowadays has given a whole new meaning to "prying open skulls".
