I always feel like apologizing when using this much text. But then again, I also feel like this is what I'm really making comics for - not just pretty pictures.
This dialogue is very close to one of the first fragments I wrote for this episode - which seems like ages ago. I always knew I had to expand the political landscape in episode 6, and I had rough ideas of what it should look like from the very beginning back in 2000. I developed these ideas more thoroughly while working on the pilot - there are some hints hidden in the first two episodes which I'll expand on later.
(BTW, since most commenters suggested I should not delete the filler I just moved it inbetween eps. 5 and 6.)

Midge: Thanks a lot! I think I learned how/where to place balloons while working on the pilot… if you look at my older comics you'll probably (hopefully!) see some improvement here. I think it comes with (a) experience and (b) the amount of time you're willing to invest in planning pages before drawing them.
trevoramueller: Thanks! I have to admit, I'm pretty much unfamiliar with the English vocabulary as used in the science of economics… I was taught in the context of literature & movies :-) So that's the reason why I'm not quite getting your point. Care to elaborate? On a side note, incidents of companies moving abroad because of lower taxes etc. are making headlines in Germany pretty much daily.

Fitz: Yup, your previous statements concerning your politicians all sounded quite… unfavorable. I guess our system is resistant to change (and it is that way by including those who would enforce change, no less!), for better or worse. That's the meaning of my including the statement "… the democratic system will drain them of whatever momentum they had when they were still calling themselves a people's movement" on this page. Meaning, if you want to get rid of someone, just turn them into a political party! I wouldn't exactly know how Poland's ruling party was trying too hard to do something… I'm just talking about my personal view of things here.
