"…as well as a beautiful face." When I wrote that line I still hadn't cut the one I was referring to on the page before the previous one. But I figured I could keep this one.

Also continuing from my comment on the previous page, when writing the script there are certain artwork choices completely undetermined - this page for instance. The obvious choice would have been to show Selkirk and Motes conversing on the orbiter, but I didn't have any idea how to make that visually interesting. So I chose to give some visual information which was not in the script, but in the end I'm glad I did, because this ties it back more closely to episode 1.

REPLIES:

Fitz: There's a movie in theaters now (or during the past weeks) about a man's relationship with his sex doll. I don't see how relationships with robots would be any more complicated - if anything, relationships with robots would seem more natural, eh? It's bound to become a moral issue (I think the technical problems will be solved sooner than later), along these lines: We can satisfy our needs for sexual pleasure and reproduction separately, so why should we choose the rather complicated conservative way of gaining sexual pleasure by courting an actual woman? (I obviously take the male perspective here, but this should also apply the other way round.) I do think that intersexual (as well as homosexual) relationships can be fruitful in many ways, but when it comes to the basic satisfaction of needs, robots are bound to surpass people. Human beings are not a means to satisfy certain needs - they are an end in themselves.

DAJB: That's what makes a classic - interpretational applicability across the ages! :-)

Nepath: Thanks!

patoborracho: Thanks very much, I should have probably crammed more stuff in there, but now it looks like a true scientist's home - nothing superfluous in it! :-)

Midge: Go right ahead - I'm actually surprised nobody DID jump to conclusions because of the last panels… :-)

trevoramueller: Thanks.
