Whatever was in those mushrooms must be pretty good, because Tara sleeps and dreams a strange dream of another time and place. But even in this dream, there is something that's not quite right…
I actually dreamed these two pages out, this one and the next, a couple Friday nights ago. Goes to show I'm writing even when I'm asleep. I'd jotted notes for this sequence down back in 1995, when I was toying with the idea of doing this series again. This version is cleaner.

Can anyone tell me about the second song on this list? First one to do so gets an autographed copy of A Deviant Mind #6 as soon as it's off the press.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Well, I get to amend what I mentioned this morning: McCool's comment reminded me of a dual reference to Edgar Allan Poe and a similarly-titled instrumental by Alan Parsons Project from 1976. I just had the Moody Blues on the brain and went off on a separate tangent. The above challenge from this morning still applies.

"For my own part, I have never had a thought which I could not set down in words with even more distinctness than that with which I conceived it. There is, however, a class of fancies of exquisite delicacy which are not thoughts, and to which as yet I have found it absolutely impossible to adapt to language. These fancies arise in the soul, alas how rarely. Only at epochs of most intense tranquility, when the bodily and mental health are in perfection. And at those weird points of time, where the confines of the waking world blend with the world of dreams. And so I captured this fancy, where all that we see, or seem, is but a dream within a dream."
