The Fire

I really didn't want to do a comic that was unfunny AND reflects life, but I felt it was sort of theraputic…i think.
This past wednesday my home was subject to a fire. Although the fire was mostly on the outside of the house, which then spread into the attic/roof, a large chuck of my clothes and some furniture are no longer usable due to smoke damage. I was torn from my sleep at roughly 2 in the afternoon(i work graveyards), and ran outside to see the fire right at my door step. Luckily for me it was not large enough to keep me inside.
Firefighters hit the scene quickly and put out the fire in minutes. No one was hurt. Me, my gf and my cats are all fine.

For anyone who hasn't experienced anything like this: don't. It's not worth it! :) Seriously, something like this makes you really appreciate the things that you have. I was sad to see some of my things go to the garbage; i would have preferred to give them away. In fact, I was in the middle of doing a spring cleanup, and had just taken a stack of old belongings to the local donation centre.
Anyways, I'm thankful that no one was hurt, that the fire was quickly contained and that no one else in the apartment was inconvenienced. My apt is the only one with enough damage to make it unlivable. It will soon be rebuilt(6-8 weeks says the contractors..friends tell me to add a month to whatever a contractor says)
Luckily i have a place to stay..well, a number of places to stay. So if i overstay my welcome at one place, i can move on to another.

Overall, life is good.
