"The title of the comic comes from the idea of Xbox 360 gamers ability to trigger unlockables (or Achievements) while playing games on the system. When a player seeks out games simply to increase their Gamerscore (a numerical account of the Achievements unlocked) that are easy and serve no purpose than just to inflate said Gamerscore the term “Achievement Whore” is applied. The bastardization of “whore” is a nod to L337 Sp34k which is common among certain circles of technology junkies. The title also refers to the original concept of the comic strip, but the original idea was abandoned due to personal feelings of extreme similarity to web comic Penny Arcade. The title was kept because, well, I liked it and it would still fit in to the overall feel of the new comic."
