Obviously that last line has a bit of a double meaning. Cassie lost a lot in the last two issues, but drama is in conflict and happiness is boring.

I never planned on this being a particularly dramatic comic, but I like that it can hit dramatic notes when I want it to. It should be back to the fun later, but like issue 15 I thought this bit of drama was good for exploring my characters.

Plus this has been in the planning since forever. I knew I wanted to do this around issue 5 or so. Her boss coming back was many one of the many plot-bombs I keep up my sleeve to use so that the comic never feels like it's coasting. That silent hug in the snow has been in my mind for so long that it was pretty cathartic to actually draw it.
