Part of the reason why I really like the new naming system is because I like to have the freedom to do parody comics. With the old naming method, it would be almost impossible for anyone to be able to easily follow. With this new system, if something inspires me in the middle of an episode (or a holiday sneaks up), I can do a comic about it, while still being current (oh the plagues of being a story based cartoon!). As I am sure many of you can tell, I saw Fantastic Four over the weekend, and I wanted to do a comic about it.

As for the comic itself, I am commenting on how little chemistry there was between the man that played Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman. Don’t get me wrong, this is how the characters are supposed to be, I am just saying, when Jessica Alba throws herself at you, you don’t work on making a flying bathtub (that is the nickname for the Fantasticar).

As for the movie, I went in, fully expecting to hate it. After seeing previews with the four switching powers, I was ready to call the movie the worst in the history of existence. The only reason why Chris and I went was because our father really wanted to see it.

Well, I have to say, that I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. I really enjoyed it. Now, this is not to say that it is Capote or anything, but it is a really good summer movie. Short (90 minutes), light hearted (so many super hero movies deal with deep internal struggles), and the action scenes are really pretty breathe taking (especially the chase between the Surfer and the Human Torch). All in all it was better than the first movie.

Is the movie for everybody? No. Some people will have a hard time getting over the weak dialog and acting, but if you want a simple way to shut your mind off for 90 minutes, then Fantastic Four will do the job. And, after all, is there anything else you need from a summer movie?

Anyway, check in Wednesday for more “Malls Well That Ends Well”, and here’s to hoping that Transformers, The Simpsons Movie, and Harry Potter all don’t disappoint me.
