DMH onWe're getting very close to one of my favourite pages so far. In the meantime, isn't Zodek a dick?
I've been looking around at companies lately and I've been wondering if I should try to make a little cash off of my colouring skills, while learning and practicing at the same time. I know I'm not the best at the moment, but I know compared to some I'm rather good.
I always thought I'd get into the industry as a letterer or an inker at the start. I never saw myself as that good a colourist, but recently I've been told I'm not too bad. If it weren't for Rokas, I wouldn't be as good at colouring as I am now. I've been experimenting with all my techniques lately and have found the ones that work best. When I'm twenty, I could probably be industry standard. But I've also been wondering, should I?
Ever since I got into comics, the one thing that has jumped out at me first was the colouring style. This is because colours are things that grab our attention. Carefully painted with each stroke clear, or a clean and cut digital style, or even toning. I have also been known to choose a book solely based on the colourist's skill.
This means, that I would make or break the comic to people like me. If I do well enough, they'll give it a chance. If I don't have a style they like, that's it. And unless they can be convinced otherwise or figure "What the hell, let's give it a go", they won't be back.
So I'm going to wait until around November when I'll have more time, and then see if I want to give it a go or not.
Until next time
