Air Raid Robertson Strip 41

Air Raid Robertson
on

The idea of a terrorist organization named T.H.E.E.Y. was my sister Cheryl's idea. And, the only reason she came up with it was for the horrible punchline that Sticky delivers in panel two.

I doubt she would've allowed me to steal the idea if I didn't somehow work in "That's what T.H.E.E.Y. want you to think!"

For the record, the powerfully stupid acronym for T.H.E.E.Y. is entirely my invention.

I don't consider this to be a dynamically illustrated strip. But, well, I wanted Air Raid Robertson and Ridley to be held hostage in a cold and windowless room. It seemed appropriate to the tone of the scene, even if it was somewhat less than dazzling to render visually.

Stick's comment in panel three is somewhat reflective of what Sticky and Stick used to be. I have a habit of doing stories that feature two characters. One of them is usually a naive doof who is oblivious to danger. The other is a loyal sidekick who is much more sensible yet also has his good advice frequently ignored by the first guy.

Sticky and Stick were arguably my first creations to fall under this archtype. I have changed them a bit for this appearance though. They have a bit more of a Laurel and Hardy vibe now. This wasn't planned, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Ridley always seemed to be pushed into the background of the first two storylines. When he and Air Raid Robertson were alone Ridley got plenty of lines. But, once a bad guy or some guest characters showed up Ridley was kind of marginalized

This storyline was done partially to give Ridley a bit more to do. Most of you readers seem to like Ridley the most anyways, so I thought it was a good idea.
