And here it is, the final chapter of "A Trip to the Moon". My thanks are extended to all the folks who stuck through and read the entire storyline.
As you can see, I couldn't help but include one more homage to the 1902 silent film in the first panel. I'm actually very proud of how the moon man turned out there.
…
This strip was a bit more difficult to script than most of the other ones. For one thing, this particular segment had far fewer jokes and gags than the usual Air Raid Robertson strip. This isn't something that I'm very comfortable with. I'm under the impression that the main pull of this title is the snappy dialogue and the various gags. I don't want to drown those things in too much "plot" or "characterization". I hate it when funny webcomics try to make things way too serious.
The other bit was the layout of Ridley's tell-off speech to The Ghost. There was a lot I wanted him to say to that guy in the last three panels. I was concerned with how I could lay it all in there without it turning into a text avalanche.
I ultimately had to cut some things here and there, but for the most part I managed to fit in all the points I felt were absolutely necessary. I wanted to explain that The Ghost had sold out Ridley in the past. And, I wanted to convey that Ridley fell on his sword willingly because he knew Ripley would be taken care of if he did so.
And, most of all, I didn't want to directly say what happened exactly. I'll be revealing more of that later on. (Hopefully that won't come off like a cop-out)
Anyways, for the next few weeks I'll be pulling out some utility strips. I like to call them this because they aren't part of a larger storyline and can be pretty much read on their own. I hope you'll all be joining me.
