Air Raid Robertson

Welcome to the first of a series of utility strips. As I mentioned several times before, these are little things I do in between Air Raid Robertson storylines. They're meant to stand on their own without requiring previous knowledge of the strip's continuity.

One of my more frequent utility subjects is Lil' Air Raid Robertson. In these strips I'm doing my best effort to emulate Charles Schultz or Bill Watterson while keeping things appropriately Air Raid Robertson-esque. The prior strips were pretty well receiced and I hope this one does okay as well.

This was originally going to be the second Lil' Air Raid Robertson strip. But, at the time I only had the gag about the periodic table, which I considered too similar to the Neosporin gag in the first strip. I ended up running with the beehive gag for the second strip and put this one on the back burner.

After some time had passed this gag gained a bit of structure. I came up with the concept of Lil' Air Raid Robertson and Lil' Ridley sailing up a small creek on a canoe. The rest of the material wrote itself from there.

I drew this one at a pretty last-minute rate. My linework has been much better, but I think the sloppiness is compensated by the coloring job. I liked what I did with the water on the last Capital of Helsinki strip so I applied it here as well.
