And so the stakes are raised for our protagonists. I really enjoy writing Fantomah, but I am fully aware of the challenges involved in having her appear in this strip with any frequency.

There are multitudes of superhero characters who have expansive powers and abilities that border on godlike. It can be very tough to think of interesting challenges for them. And, if you can't find ways to make the protagonist feel threatened, then it's very difficult to keep the reader engaged.

With that in mind, I gave Fantomah an Achille's Heel. Her invincibility relies on a storage of solar radiation. Once depleted, she becomes a normal, unpowered woman.

This will also keep things in this comic from becoming "Fantomah: Featuring Air Raid Robertson and Ridley". It is their strip, after all. It wouldn't make do for them to constantly be surrounded by deus ex machinas.
