Air Raid Robertson

The Great Machine

The Great Machine

Air Raid Robertson
on

This strip breaks a couple of cardinal rules I set up for myself when I began doing webcomics. I promised myself that I wouldn't do single panel cartoons. I also decided to do my best to avoid walls of text.

But, well, this is a special circumstance. Since I've been referencing classic comics lately I decided to expand on my notion to have Air Raid Robertson use a Rube Goldberg Machine. (Note the terrible pun in the last sentence of the strip. I couldn't stop myself)

As you may have guessed, the Rube Goldberg Machine is named after a cartoonist named Rube Goldberg. He was a prolific artist, but is most well-remembered for designing a variety of comical inventions. They always accomplished simple tasks through a complex and overelaborate means.

Rube Goldberg Machines are prominent in a number of other things. They're seen in Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, The Three Stooges, and Pee Wee's Playhouse. There's also an annual contest in West Lafayette, Indiana where college kids build their own.

This'll be it for the single-serving sized utility strips for a while. Next week I'll be starting a brand new storyline. Unlike the last arc, this one will bring in a good number of new characters. Three of them will hopefully become integral members of the Air Raid Robertson rogues gallery. (If I can get away with calling it that at this stage)
