Real Estate Nightmare Part 2

Air Raid Robertson
on

I thought that I did a good job with the art on page one, but I consider this page to be an improvement. In retrospect, I find the content of the first panel on page one to be pretty static. I think it clashes a bit with the flow of the story. This page, I think, has a better visual sequence of transition.

The castle in panel two is modeled after Castle Dracula. I recently read a news article about how the Romanian government is trying to acquire Castle Dracula, which served as a springboard for this story. I also think this sequence parallels the opening chapters of the Dracula novel as well.

The Castle Dracula photos I used as reference were taken on a sunny day. So, I had to improvise a set of shadows in order for it to fit the tone of the story.

Count Orlok is clearly taken from the Max Shreck performance in 1922's Nosferatu. For those of you unfamiliar, this was an unauthorized German movie version of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The filmmakers changed the names of the characters at the last minute in an attempt to ward off a lawsuit by the Stoker estate. (It didn't work)

Since Nosferatu is in the public domain, I can have Count Orlok show up in Air Raid Robertson without any worries.
