My main concern for this page was to make panel three look appropriately badass. At first, I wanted to make that image a large-sized panel that took up half of the entire page. I ultimately decided against that however. I believe that doing this would hinder the amount of dialogue and story I could fit on this page.

Yes, I'm doing this particular story in a comic book format rather than a comic strip format. This does free me to be a bit more extravagent in my page layouts. I do feel less obligated to make each page stand by itself for a new reader who hasn't seen any of the previous installments in the story.

Still, I have a limit on how self-indulgent I can be with this stuff. Each page should have a certain amount of narrative meat on it. If I decompress my storytelling too much this arc will just turn into a series of pin-ups.

Besides, I think panel three looks fine the way it is. It's not often that an image I set out to draw turns out looking almost exactly the way I imagined it in my head.
