Before I get started with my comments about this page, I'd like to take a moment to discuss a spin-off of sorts to what I'm doing here.

Some of you may have noticed that I don't post any filler pages here. It isn't that I don't receive fanart or that I never make concept sketches or thumbnails or the like for this comic. I just think that posting this stuff kind of jerks around the flow of the story pages. I don't want clutter in Air Raid Robertson.

However, I am under the impression that there are a couple of you out there who may be interested in seeing this kind of stuff. If so, you can check it out in "Air Raid Robertson Sketchbook". Everything I drew that involves the characters but isn't actually a story page will be posted there. You will see my initial designs for all the characters, layouts for pages that never saw the light of day, rejected plot ideas, experimental drafts, and all the other things that people draw when they create an ongoing webcomic.

I can't say that I was all that satisfied with the first page of this storyline. I can't put my finger on why that is, but something just doesn't click with me. The frosty page views that the page received seem to agree.

I tried to do better with this page, and hopefully I improved on what came before. I wish I had an extra page to work with here, but as I already said before the limit is three. I hope I can wrap this up without it seeming too forced.

Judge Dredd fans will notice another reference on this page. The robot on the bottom panel is modeled after Call-Me Kenneth, the villain of Judge Dredd's first multi-chapter storyline.

My favorite part of that particular story was how the evil robots were all reciting rhymed couplets about slaughtering humans during most of the action scenes. It's a good example of the kind of satirical touch that John Wagner would bring to many of his Judge Dredd stories.
