Ridley's line in panel three was a "free range joke" of sorts. I had scribbled down that bit of dialogue without the context of a story behind it. I thought it was a funny enough exchange and I was pretty sure that I would eventually come up with a plot where it could fit in somewhere.

I have quite a few free range quips that are still looking for homes. Actually, another one that's been lingering about for ages is going to be used on the next page.

As you can guess, I worked in that sequence with The Commander so I could explain why the local authorities weren't going to get involved in the monster fight. I felt it was necessary to do this since The Hybrid is kind of living in the shadows in his own title. Someone has to persuade everyone to keep this under wraps.

The Commander's companion is The Ghost. He's a public domain superhero that I wrote into Air Raid Robertson for the "Trip to the Moon" storyline. He hasn't been seen since then, so I decided to haul him out for a minor supporting role here. He's going to be involved in a few major storylines in the future, so I wanted to remind all of you of his existence.
