Rhapsody in Beige Page 2

Air Raid Robertson
on

I think this page is something of an improvement on the first one. It seems a lot less sloppy, although I'm sure that I still have a world of work in front of me before I begin receiving accusations of having technical ability that rivals the artists I'm attempting to emulate in this storyline.
One of the main reasons I chose to follow up "Dames, Danger, and Dissonance" with "Rhapsody in Beige" is because of how minimal the art was in the former story. In most of the pages I used shadowy negative space to imply the presence of a background. I thought it best to contrast this with technique with an art style that requires explicitly detailed background imagery. I believe I certainly matched that order with this page.
I'm guessing that it's pretty obvious to most of you that this story's antagonist is none other than Sweeney Todd. This character is best known from the 1979 musical written by Steven Sondheim. However, Todd's story dates back to the penny dreadful era and is even occasionally argued as an urban legend based on real incidents. Naturally, this places him firmly in the public domain. Regular readers of my comics are already aware of how fond I am of sticking public domain characters into Air Raid Robertson stories.
