A few years back I was acquainted with an ex-con who was something of a chess hustler. I was foolish enough to accept his offer of a "friendly match" and he mated me in three moves. He then, after destroying me a few more times, told me that he honed all his skills during the endless hours of his sentence. I thought this was an interesting anecdote and, while scripting this story, I decided to inject it into "The Undiscovered Self".

The fellow who is conversing with Air Raid Robertson is a recurring character named Judge Happy. He is the head of a terrorist organization dubbed T.H.E.E.Y. (Terrorists Harassing Everyone, Especially You!) Air Raid Robertson first squared off against T.H.E.E.Y. in "A Trip To The Moon". He faced off against Judge Happy himself in "Dames, Danger, and Dissonance".
