San Souci Mansion party

During the latter half of the sixties, just west of downtown Los Angeles the San Souci Mansion was notorious for its wild weekend parties, revelers fueled by pot, uppers and LSD. Frank Zappa's backup band, "The Mothers of Invention" was the "house band." Previously owned by twenties heartthrob Rudolph Valentino, Peter Fonda starred in "The Trip" which was filmed at the Mansion. The parties ended late one night with a drug bust, instigated by undercover agents who had infiltrated the Mansion.
