Well after apparently throwing me a bone (see last update), Mr. Murphy turned back around and kicked me square in the nuts. I work for several days at this new job, only to get laid-off a short time afterwards. And I'm still pretty much next-to-broke. So if you'll please excuse me for a moment…
…There. Now that I've gotten that out of my system, let's move on to the page. :-)
When Jason drew this, he told me that he envisioned the mayor, and I'm QUOTING here, "As sort of a fat coonass with a heavy southern accent." When I saw the finished result, though, for some reason, the first thought that came to my mind was Dr. Wiley from the old Megaman games (at which point Jason threatened to kick my ass :-p ). I do, however, like the way that Jason plays with the reflection in Deimos's sunglasses in the last panel, in which you can see his left eye gazing through. Jason apparently had a little too much fun with the glare effect from the window (in the background of panel 3), but the end result works out pretty well.
The only potential misunderstanding I can see with my writing skills in this page was trying to make it clear that Deimos and the mayor are referring to the "monsters" in general (including the different kinds seen briefly near the beginning of Chapter 1), rather than just those spider-critters alone (if any of you have no idea what I'm talking about, you should go back and read through Chapter 1). But I didn't feel that there was any way I could change the dialogue to explain that without it coming off as sounding rather "unnatural," so it stays as is.
Anyway, despite my current unemployment situation, I do have some good news. All Saints hits the 75-page mark next week, so be sure to toon in, right here on Drunk Duck!
Peace out, ~Dave
(And yes, I've just been dying for an excuse to use that image). XD
