Alright guys, let me take my time to go through exactly why I hated the new terminator movie so much. Yes, I agree with you'll that the special effects were amazing. Yes, there were some scenes that were really well done and entertaining. However, the reason why I hate it so much is because it had the potential of being an historical masterpiece. Allow me to explain. You see, I do not only love Battlestar Galactica and Sarah Connor Chronicles just for their amazing stories, wonderful executions and indepth character development. I also love them because I believe that the philosophies and arguments that their stories present, particularly surrounding humanity's relationships with artificial intelligence contribute positively to as well as enrich our popular cultural discourse around technological advancements and our imagining of the future. It demonstrates convincingly that the manifestation of AI is most likely going to be far more complex than the black and white version of 'it will turn on us' or 'it will listen to us'.

However, both BSG and SCC have a limited fan base. A movie, on the other hand, has the potential of bringing these theories directly into and possibly shifting the main stream popular cultural understanding and consideration of AI and the future. It is the waste of THIS potential that I am pissed at Salvation for. Maybe they tried it with the Marcus character but they blew it. Hard.

Okay, I am done ranting.

IN OTHER SCIFI NEWS:
So last time I talked about Fringe, I watched about a dozen episodes. Now that I've watched the rest of Season 1, I take back what I said last time. Episode 13 to 20 are AWESOME. Most of them have to do with the overarching story and the ones that don't had wonderful character development. I have no idea what happened but all of a sudden the writing got REALLY good. So yea, TheMidge28, you are right, it grew on me.

@DAJB, T3 at least had a good ending. Bale is limited in his range but he can be convincing. However, his character in the movie is not. At all.

@The Gravekeeper, You know, I have a friend who is a B-movie fan too. He tortures me by acting all excited about showing me a movie and then disappointing me. It's pretty close to the "Clockwork Orange"-type of apparatus.

@TheMidge28, I love the red hair T1000! The hints of her role in the story are sooo interesting. But we will never know. :( I hope Space picks it up or something.

@tsameti, Hehe. You make him sound so emo. Emo dad. Wow. That could be fun to write.
