If you haven't noticed it by now, doc's narration is in the past tense. Everything has already happened and she's accounting it. The idea was, at first, she was addressing someone in a letter but I forgot that I began the first panel with "Dr. Lore's Journal." Oh well.

Just remember that first line: "It started with a letter."
