Dowsing Rods

Dowsing rods are those metal rods, bent about 90*, that people go around trying to find underground water with.

To make a cheap pair, you break and bend up two clothes-hangers, and stick a straight plastic straw over the short end to give the rod freedom of movement. (Do a google search if you want real instructions.)

The idea, as I have heard it (and briefly practiced it), is not that the rods magically find water (or energy, or whathaveyou), but that if you unconsciously know the answer/can sense the answer in some way or other, the rods will end up moving/pointing based on what's present in your subconscious.
