Erasing Racism

Alright so I might get into a little bit of trouble for this one. But it actually happened…. kinda.

So PJ ( http://www.myspace.com/ll_pj ) knew what he was getting into when he moved into a house with 3 white guys, one Mexican and a dog named negro.

Back when PJ was sleeping on the couch in the living room and my computer was in the “dining area” like 10 feet away, for everybody to use, I’d be up late chatting or constantly refreshing my inbox until he was ready for bed then I would sign off and head off to sleep. I’d say the usual good nights to whoever was awake and always to PJ as I would walk by him every time to get to my bedroom. One night, I may have had a drink or two first, I decided to test the waters with this joke as I had only been living with PJ for a month or two now and I didn’t know what I could factually get away with, with a black roommate. So I said the joke, he was quiet for a second, in which I though to myself “Hmm, that may have crossed a line” but then he chuckled and said something to the degree of his usual, drawn out, slightly jersey accented, “fuck owff” which I’ve learned means, “you got me ass-cock that was good”.

I strolled off to bed realizing that now that I had a black roommate I could pretty much get away with anything and I still continue to test the limits of what I can and can’t say to PJ or other black people I know as friends ( I don’t say stuff like this to random people on the street). Keep in mind though, that it’s all in good fun. I’m not actually racist at all and I get along great with PJ. I make these jokes more to try to undo the stigma that has been created with Racism, though it’s not, in reality, a laughing matter. Right now, in this day and age, people are starting to realize that race doesn’t matter, for real and I’m trying to forward that motion by making these jokes and making less of racism itself don’t think I haven’t gotten my share of loving, verbal abuse from my roommates on account of being Mexican or a big guy. But we know that it’s all in good fun and it is far better to put things out in the open, laugh about them and then move on than to get serious about them and make them a problem.


Hopefully you bought the massive load of B.S. I spewed above and don’t file any complaints.
