By Francisco Zurbaran (1598-1664)
Circa. 1633
Baroque.

A once famous painter, Zurbaran was known as the Spanish Caravaggio and painted for both kings and church. Sadly, Zubaran's popularity decreased in his lifetime and when he died, he died penniless and obscure. It wasn't until two-hundred years later that his work was re-discovered and even now, Zurbaran's work has begun to decline in popularity once more.
