Louis XIV of France
By Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659-1743)
Circa 1701
Rococo.

During the period of Louis XIV, a man would want to show his legs off as it was symbolic that he was healthy. This can be seen in many old kings such as Henry VIII and James I. It's amusing how the idea of showing legs has switched to women nowadays instead of men.
