this is the page 10's first panel refence image. Reference images rarely look identical to the final version of the comic. Theyre just the basic layout and placement. The plants behind the tradnert look nothing like the final plants, they're just there. and of course, the nerts are not there at all, since their shape is so irregular. I have used flat spheres as nerts but that was only one time, before I started saving the images outside of Blender. yes, that is a 3d render, I found a really great toon shader that gives them a cell shaded appearance. He has a smile because it's too hard to pose his mouth. I didnt add handles or anything to make things easier.
