Guy - lineart tends to be more solid. Looks as if more force was exerted on the pen. - art style tends to be more "cubed". - more use of "cold" colors (blue, green, purple), browns, blacks, whites, grays… Or darker variants of "warm" colors. - more emphasis on female bodies and machines. - if there is alot of pointless violence - tends to be more scientific/political/religious based… - more "below the belt" and "politically incorrect" humour. - background music, theme songs, or music listened to by characters is either any variant of rap or rock.
Gal - lineart is light. - art style tends to have more circular stuff and curved lines going on. - more use of pink and "warm" colors (yellow, orange, red)… and lighter variants of "cold" colors and browns and blacks and grays. - guy characters are always unusually good-looking. Like seriously. You wanna put a badboy or a policeman character, he looks more like a model. - alot of drama. (sometimes pointless) obsession with relationships and love triangles. Uber-hot guy always ignores girl or likes someone else, etc… etc… - humor has less hardcore shit. - background music is usually instrumental or love songs.
And again… this is just the stereotype I've witnessed after reading tons of online comics. And there are a few exceptions to the rule. But my spidey sense is usually correct in determining gender of the author after 3 minutes of looking at the comic. :)
