———————- NOTES ON THE PAGE (and rant as well) ———————–
***The KKK flag does not stand for "Ku Klux Klan"!!!*** (research in google "katipunan" and "katipunan flag" and "philippine revolution"!!!)
***That is the first flag used by Andres Bonifacio in his first battle against Spanish Imperialism*** (Spain has learned from its imperialist past. Today its a peaceful country… Imperialist powers become peace lovers in the long run… ^^)
***I originally wanted to use this flag because it looked "cool":
Supposedly the "I" shaped figure in the center is the letter "KA" symbolizing "kalayaan" (freedom)… in the ancient Filipino language before the Spanish arrived. Its supposed to mean a sense of identity and national pride… This flag was originally used by the MAGDALO faction of the Katipunan in Cavite.
But if you do a little research, The people who have used that flag in Philippine history are a disgrace to the country. In 1897 and as recent as 2003. I think that is the perfect logo if the Philippines turns into a dictatorship. :) Errr… I just hope that that flag's honor be restored… and its good meaning returned. Cuz right now, that flag goes down in history as "bad". Like the Nazi Germany flag or something.
Or maybe… open up the debate that the users of the MAGDALO flag were the good guys. Since June 12, 1898 was declared by Emilio Aguinaldo… and the Magdalo faction was the technically better trained and better equipped (Aguinaldo had contacts in Hong Kong to smuggle the latest guns into the country for use in revolution) faction of the revolution… or…. the recent 2003 coup was just.
SONG: BAYAN KO Sung by: Freddie Aguilar Original composer: Jose Corazon de Jesus
Ang bayan kong Pilipinas My country, the Philippines
Lupain ng ginto't bulaklak Land of gold and flowers
Pag-ibig ang sa kanyang palad With love in her palms
Nag-alay ng ganda't dilag. She offers beauty and virtue.
At sa kanyang yumi at ganda And of her modesty and beauty
Dayuhan ay nahalina The foreigner was attracted
Bayan ko, binihag ka O my country, you were enslaved
Nasadlak sa dusa. Mired in hardship.
Ibon mang may layang lumipad Even birds that are free to fly
Kulungin mo at umiiyak Cage them and they cry,
Bayan pa kayang sakdal dilag Much more a beautiful country
Ang di magnasang makaalpas! Shall long to be free!
Pilipinas kong minumutya Philippines my beloved,
Pugad ng luha ko't dalita Cradle of my tears and poverty
Aking adhika, My wish,
Makita kang sakdal laya. Is to see you truly free.
